Recipes made with love at Spizzico Deli and Cafe
Home cooked Italian meals with all the flavour and finesse of the ‘old country’ is the bill of fare for the Spizzico Deli and Café at Burwood Heights Shopping Centre.
Spizzico Deli and Café was established by Enza Sirianni and her husband Sam in 2008 and has forged a solid reputation over the years for its gorgeous gourmet food and friendly service.
It is a family run business with Selina, one of Enza and Sam’s three children, helping out her parents in the shop on Monday’s.
“We think that everyone deserves a home cooked meal and being authentic Italian we feel it’s great for people to enjoy,” Enza said.
“The dishes are very affordable and they’re all home cooked with no preservatives.
“We cook them twice a week throughout the year. We take orders and we love people to enjoy it.”
Enza, who worked in a bar and restaurant in Milan before migrating to Australia, learned her cooking skills from her mother and mother-in-law.
“That’s the best part of it. They both had great recipes,” Enza stated.
Among the traditional favourite Italian dishes to eat in or take away are carbonara, calabrese, bolognaise, vegetarian, pesto, creamed chicken and pesto, lasagne, gnocchi, ravioli, tortellini, and many more.
“We do home made arancini to order and we have a range of imported cheeses including Auricchio, Asiago, Fontina and Parmigiano and imported meats including prosciutto and Italian chipalata sausages,” Enza said.
“At Christmas time we cook up panettone, a celebrity Italian cake.”
Besides their selection of gourmet dishes such as pasta, cheeses and salami, Spizzico Deli and Café offer a range of cakes, imported grocery lines, coffee and tea.
“We make up hampers to order and we do a lot of catering for schools, corporate meetings and medical centres,” Enza said.
Spizzico Deli and Café is located at Shop 11, 2-8 Burwood Highway, East Burwood. Take away orders can be made on phone 9808 9943 or 0421 719 969.
